If the last year with COVID-19 has shown something, it is that (most of) humanity is not prepared for interplanetary travel just yet. A large proportion of people appear not to handle mild lockdown situations very well and even with optimistic estimates, travel time to Mars can be measured in months rather than days. Humanity may be earthbound afterall.
