It seems that not all is lost for the rural prefectures of Japan. A small but quite significant reverse migration is starting to take place and while the rural-to-urban migration flow that we see on a global scale will be near impossible to slow down in the coming decades, we will need to find solutions that keep the countryside alive.

Rural, and affordable, second homes may be just that.
